We had to excite existing fans and draw in new ones unfamiliar to the books. We had to capture incredibly complex themes while transporting the viewer across a multiverse - enveloped in a unique and stunning aesthetic as rich with symbolism and iconography as the world that Pullman created in his novels.
We start at a molecular level – atoms colliding and bursting into life. Particles of dust coalesce to form objects of intrigue from Pullman’s books. From here our view becomes wider, traveling through folding corridors, then into a fantastical landscape where Escher-inspired images suggest worlds beyond our perception to discover that our world is but one of many.
Resulting in a metaphor for free thinking, and an homage to these beloved stories and to the inquiring mind. With a torrent of surprising views and parallel worlds, audiences can now realize: they’ve only just scraped the surface of what’s to come.
